In my last post I wondered if there were any switch solutions for automatically switch between AGA/ECS/OCS and graphics board output out there, witch at the moment there were none.

I solved the problem in one of my A4000 system by attaching an old Bmon manual monitor switch, you might remember the Bmon switches that Eyetech made a lot of years ago. Eyetech did actually have an automatic switch that worked with the DCE-scandoubler/flickerfixer and the CyberVision64-3D card but that switch seems very rare, I have never seen one second hand and them where kind of expensive for switches back in the day.

The Bmon works fine, but I have always preferred an automated switch between screen modes so you do not have to wonder where your output is. When it comes to scandoublers, the Indivision scandoubler/flickerfixer by Individual Computer has crushed all competition because it works so much better on TFT than any other scandoubler or flickerfixer for the Amiga before, so I do not find a problem if that switch exclusively works only with the Indivision.

Anyway, on the very nice German Amiga forum a1k.org there have been some posts of a cool new prototype monitor switch which works with the Amiga 4000 version of the Indivision.

Since I have forgotten German language (only 2 years of German studies in high school) I can only assume it is about a cool monitor switch, maybe Ratte can give a comment about the switch here? :)

Anyway, as usual, expect the coolest Amiga accessories to come from Germany, something’s never change! :D

    Hi,

the switch is based on a design by “chkamiga” with some cosmetic changes.
I build this prototype for some experimental software development … a systemfriendly way for detecting aga & gfx-card screenmodes and to control the switch by software.
The current beta-soft/hard-ware seems to be a good playground for this development.
I would like to build something smaller later on … based on the STMAV340 & STG719 ICs.

    Hello!

Many thanks for feedback Ratte :)

I have been missing an automatic monitor switch that works with Mediator/CVPPC/BVPPC for quite some time, I think many in the community worldwide would like to add such a device to their Amiga. Nothing beats automatic switch between AGA/RTG.

Nice work, I look forward to updates to the switch :)

    STMAV340 & STG719 IC order is out … ;)
Working on a new much smaller design.
I think working samples for november are possible.

    New Prototypes are nearly finished.
I think during the next week I can post some news about them on a1k.org.

Time to look around for some “betatesters” to refinance the research ;)
