Finding a new place for the Kickstart switch in the Amiga 500

Wow… Vintage Amiga Hardware Blog is quickly turning into my Amiga 500 project diary, I hope my readers do not disapprove of this (do I have any?), once I get my hands on other Amiga hardware you can be sure I will blog about them.
So what happened today?
Not much, at least not until I decided to get some work done. My GVP HD8+ drive has fresh power cables soldered inside of it for the Molex connector so it is fully working again. I soldered a softer type cable so hopefully they won’t break apart as the stiff cables did which originally were soldered inside it.
Then I thought that it would be cool to be able to run a Kickstart switch in my A500. Problem is that I am going to run a turbo board which takes up a lot of space over the socket for the Kickstart so the small circuit board would not be able to fit under the turbo board.
I came up with the idea to run a long 40-pin IDE cable from a 40-pin socket mounted on the Kickstart socket to just under the floppy drive where the circuit board could be placed.
Next time I am going to solder the cable to the Kickstart switch so I can select between 1.2, 1.3 or 3.1 rom.

You have readers
I’m enjoying your blog posts about your projects. I recently bought an Amiga 1000 with 1080 monitor myself. I love your blog!

You know, this page does not show up on the statistics for my domain so I did not have a clue if it had any traffic.
