Jens Schoenfeld Amiga-innovator extraordinaire and boss of Individual Computer – making good hardware for good computers, established 1986 (I guess). Most famous for making hardware devices for the Amiga with additional clock ports as a bonus have posted a question on Amiga.org everyone still running a genuine Amiga 4000T should find and answer pronto!
Question is how many would be interested in an Indivision scandoubler/flickerfixer compatible with the Amiga 4000 tower (the genuine 5-slot Zorro Escom/Commodore tower that is, not some ugly half finished Amiga 4000 Desktop DIY hack from 1997)?
As you probably already knows, there are currently three different Indivision scandoublers (of the new generation with better compatibility with TFT), the A1200 version that fits an Amiga 1200 (surprise), the A4000D version that fits the Amiga 4000 Desktop and the CD32 (surprise again), and finally the as of yet unreleased ECS Indivision that will be released in October this year -2009- which will be compatible with A500, A600 (with Individual Computers new Amiga 600 memory expansion), A1000, A3000 and A2000.
Genuine Amiga 4000 towers seems to be a bit more popular in the states because Amiga was more often regarded as a video workstation than a home computer there so I guess there are quite a lot of power users who still swears by their trusty professional Amiga tower that would like to add the Indivision A4000T version to their tower of Amiga power. These nice huge Amiga-towers which originally was aimed for the “professional Amiga market” sometimes pop up on second hand market here in Sweden – the land of the wikings. But they sell for silly prices, especially in comparison with the Amiga 4000 desktop which is not at all that rare here (rotten battery mould included though, I begin to like that green color though).
As been stated on this Amiga blogg for quite a few times (no bribes involved), Indivision is a great compliment to any Amiga and in combination with a fast turbo board is actually almost as having a graphics board in your Amiga in combination with HighGFX drivers. I do not want to touch an Amiga without a 060 again, I suggest in a couple of years I will also be so used to having rock solid display so the combination of fast 060 for great user experience and high-end scandoubler for pleasure of Amiga graphic modes will be essential for the Amiga experience in the future.
Get them while you can or pay 200 euro for them on eBay ten years from now.
So if you would like to the possibility of purchasing the best scandoubler/flickerfixer for your genuine totally bad-ass Amiga 4000 tower I suggest you head in to Amiga.org and mention that you are interested in one, I wish you good luck, and lets wish me good luck I wont be needing to track one down on eBay 10 years from now when I finally got a genuine A4000T myself
